Dennis Blackwell has over 41 years in the propane industry and is the owner of Blackwell Energy Corporation & Hometown Propane Partners LLC.. Dennis is the Past President of the Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts Propane Gas Association, a member of the National Propane Gas Association , a member of the New England Propane Gas Association and a member of the New England Fuel Institute. Blackwell Energy (http://www.blackwellenergy.net) sells Discount oil and will be adding other energy products to the business in the future. Dennis* started Hometown Propane from scratch in 2001. " We had zero customers and a dream of growing a darn good propane company". Since then we have grown the company mostly by adding one new customer at a time. We also purchased the assets of Chandler Gas Company of Marshfield, MA in 2004. Prior to founding Hometown Propane, Dennis was Vice President for a start-up Dot.Com called ChooseEnergy. " A great Idea a little ahead of its time'. Before joining ChooseEnergy, Dennis directed operations, customer service and sales for AmeriGas. Prior to AmeriGas, Dennis was manager of gas liquids supply & transportation at EnergyExpress, Inc., a Bay State Gas Affiliate, where he purchased energy products for the company and directed a modest fleet of propane transports and common carriers. Before that, Dennis held various marketing & operational positions at Bay State Gas Company and Bay State Propane, where he managed their multi-state propane retail operations and started their wholesale propane and oil operations from scratch. Dennis also started Bay State Propane’s Lawrence, Massachusetts Propane Division from scratch in the early 1980’s.
Dennis holds a Massachusetts Master Gas Fitter License, Journeyman’s gas Fitters License and an LP Gas Fitters License.
Dennis earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) from Eastern Nazarene College and his Master of Science in quality systems management( MSQSM) from the Falmouth Institute of Quality Systems Management. The Institute has recently been renamed the National Graduate School of Quality System Management. As part of his graduate studies, Dennis participated in several quality improvement projects for Duracell, UPS, and Hill Romm. Each project streamlined ongoing operations and resulted in significant cost savings. Dennis is a Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran, serving with Marine Medium Helicopter Squardron 262, in 1968.
Hometown Propane was designed specifically to be very efficient and cost effective to operate, allowing the company to focus on controlled Customer Growth and Customer Service. What this means is we are not bogged down with daily operational issues which can take us away from serving our customers. Serving our Customers and meeting or exceeding their needs is our preoccupation.
